The Subaru Forester has two engine options: a four-cylinder and a more powerful turbocharged engine. Both engines use a boxer configuration. This piston layout reduces vibration, making them less susceptible to wear and tear; functions more smoothly, reducing fuel consumption and improving acceleration; and lowers the center of gravity, improving handling. Unlike the Escape, the Forester also comes standard with all-wheel drive.
